School themed quiz held in Farnham Royal
1st February 2012 15:50:52
I was involved in organising a charity quiz night in Farnham Royal at the weekend. The evening was held to raise money for the charity School Aid, which is based locally in South Bucks.
School Aid collects books which are no longer needed by schools in the UK, and sends them to schools in Africa. The charity has a warehouse in Hedgerley, where volunteers from the local area sort and pack the donated books before they are shipped.
The quiz questions were school themed, with a “headmaster” (quizmaster) presiding over the evening. The rounds included history, science, geography and “general studies”. We also provided a map of Africa and asked the teams to fill in the names of the countries that we had marked.
There were over 40 attendees, which was a great turnout as this was the first quiz night that School Aid has held. The event raised over £300, and we hope to be able to run it again in 2013.
