The cupcake trend hits Berkshire

31st August 2010 16:10:40

The whole cupcake trend has been a popular one for a couple of years now. With celebrity bakers like Bakerella and Martha Stewart embracing the minature cakes, it was only a matter of time before they made their way to our colder shores.

London has some big name cupcakeries, inclulding Hummingbird and Lolas. But I've found some of them to be a little dry, and heading all the way into London for a cupcake seems a little daft!

Thankfully, an old school friend started up her cake business, Crumble Bumble, in the local area. Joanne creates stunning wedding cakes and celebration cakes, but it's the cupcakes I love.

Joanne sent over a few cupcakes to try, including the chocolate orange, white chocolate and raspberry and chocolate coffee flavours. The thing that really impressed me was the use of fresh ingredients in the sponge and icing, rather than the usual artificial flavours. The chocolate orange cupcake was my particular favourite, with an incredibly light and moist sponge and a rich icing.

So if you're looking for a gift or cupcakes for a party, I'd highly reccommend Crumble Bumble. Her wedding cakes start at just £150 too, which is a bit of a bargain.

Are you a cupcake fan?
