The Red Lion, Little Missenden

This historic inn which dates back to 1649 enjoys a picturesque setting and has featured in Midsomer Murders. The food is unpretentious, home-cooked and made from local ingredients and organic produce wherever possible. HRH Prince Harry has eaten here with friends – he had the honey roast ham, egg and chips. Other dishes include fresh fish, free range steaks, homemade pies and Sunday roasts.

The interior of the pub is light, airy and modern. Children and muddy boots are welcome. The restaurant, Bluebella Roo’s, offers fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. A La Carte mains from £15.50.
