Stunning stone worktops for your kitchen

PUBLISHED: 14:57 22 May 2015 | UPDATED: 14:28 13 April 2016

Archant

This gorgeous Arabescato marble worktop would make a statement in any kitchen. And if you are prepared to seal it regularly, wipe any spills as soon as they occur and like the idea of it developing character with age, then it is definitely for you.

If the idea of a worktop that will develop an antique patina as it ages with you is not to your liking, then consider granite or quartz which are much harder wearing and stain resistant. If you do decide on marble, we recommend a honed finish as it will be easier to live with and still display the unique natural veining to enhance your kitchen.

When choosing which sort of stone to use for your kitchen counters, you will need to take into account the colour and style of your kitchen and whether you want a uniform look or prefer the sort of variations in tone and markings that you get with natural stone.

The best way to choose the stone for your worktop is to go and look at different types of stone, ideally in as large a piece as possible. stoneCIRCLE’s Newbury Showroom is an ideal place to start. It has a large indoor gallery with displays of the biggest selection of full size stone slabs in the South East. Here you can view granite, marble, limestone and quartz among other types of stone and you can get advice from the expert staff about what stone would best suit your particular project, be it a kitchen worktop or marble bathroom.

There are also displays of products that have been made out of the different types of stone to help you visualise what can be done in this beautiful adaptable material.
