Specialist volunteer Search & Rescue team Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (SEBEV) were called out on Monday night to assist Thames Valley Police with the search for a missing Reading man.

The team was called at around 10pm and responded with a large number of personnel, search managers and their specially equipped search control vehicle, with more members attending as the incident progressed. SEBEV SAR also requested assistance from Berkshire Search Dogs, Oxfordshire Search & Rescue Team, Surrey Search & Rescue and Lowland Search Dogs Bucks and Chiltern.

The missing gentleman was eventually located by a member of his family in the early hours of Tuesday morning and returned to his care home. All search teams were stood down at around 2.30am.

Kris Manning, Team Chairman said We were very concerned for his welfare as the weather was deteriorating and time is the most important factor in a missing person search. Our teams searched a huge area of Reading and we were delighted when Mr he was eventually located safe and well.

Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (SEBEV) is a registered charity that provides Thames Valley Police with search resources for vulnerable missing persons in Berkshire and the surrounding areas. All of SEBEVs members are unpaid volunteers who are highly trained in the latest search techniques, casualty care, search management and much more. They meet once a week for training at their HQ in Wokingham.

SEBEV Search & Rescue are currently looking for corporate sponsorship to help continue and develop the lifesaving work that the team does. SEBEV are a UK registered charity no. 1046861
